mia & chad

Mia is an avid hip hop dance class taker, an enjoyer of novelty cream cheeses, a lover of calendars and journals, a big fan of Boston Terriers, and a walking human smile. Mia grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she learned that tacos are best served with hard shells, queso is made from velveeta, and bologna is best served grilled. Mia is a UX Designer at RazorFish, where she kicks ass every day making great apps and websites—including this one.
Chad is a homebrewer, a bread baker, a lover of pizza, a fan of all dogs but especially the ones that make funny faces when they aren't trying to make a funny face, a tall guy who hits his head on a lot stuff, a fan of Dungeons and Dragons. Chad works at a start-up, where he does a little of everything—from front-end development, to copy writing, to UX design, to product management, to analytics. Chad built this site.

how they met

Mia and Chad met each other on the internet in early September 2013. She gave him a five-star rating on OKCupid; he replied in kind. She messaged him. He made a joke about Lord of The Rings. She asked her friends what an Ent is, because she is not a nerd.
It was the weekend of her birthday, and Mia and her friends were having a house party in the Rockaways. Chad was at his parents' house for Labor Day, building a cat castle (catstle) for his mom.
That Monday, they met at Gorilla Coffee for their first date. Chad was super early and nervous. Mia showed up right on time. They grabbed coffees and proceeded to talk until the coffee shop closed and kicked them out.
She was heading for the G. He was heading for the Q. He walked her towards the G train, and they stopped for a long time outside Barclay's and talked.
On their next date, Mia and Chad got day-drunk in the park, went to a beer tasting, and ate a couple trays of barbecue in front of each other. It's pretty much been that way ever since.
Chad proposed to Mia at the same coffee shop where they met, one year later. He hired a viola player and a cellist to play The Zombies' This Will Be Our Year as Mia walked in. Gorilla Coffee was pretty nice about the impromptu performance. They gave Mia and Chad some coffee mugs and tea.

McGolrick Park in Greenpoint
at the Central Pavillion
Officiated by Halle Kiefer

how should I dress?

Dress is "semi formal cool". Which is to say, be fancy, but we love a good jumpsuit. Keep in mind that the average temperature for October 8th in New York is 60 degrees, and the ceremony is outdoors. Most importantly, wear something you can dance in!

getting there by car

Don't drive to the ceremony, you'll end up having to pick up your car later. We recommend parking your car at your hotel or AirBnB and taking the subway instead.

getting there by subway

Take the
g
to Nassau Avenue and walk East to Russell Street.

You could also take the
